Environmental and Social Risk Management
The sustainability and legitimacy of climate investments depend largely on their ability to prevent harm and generate sustainable benefits. Environmental and social safeguards (ESS) systems help identify, assess, and mitigate the negative impacts of projects on people and the environment. These systems, mandated by international organizations such as the GCF, IDB, and WB, are essential to ensuring inclusion, equity, and the protection of human rights.
The adoption of global SSE standards is not only an operational requirement, but also an opportunity to strengthen governance, accountability, and the quality of public and private investment.
At ROA, we design SARAS systems, E&S manuals, monitoring protocols, and grievance mechanisms. We assess institutional capacities, adapt international standards to the local context, and strengthen internal processes in financial institutions and public agencies to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
