
Addressing Pre-Accreditation Gaps to Achieve Accreditation with the GCF in Saint Kitts and Nevis

Project Description: Support for the GCF pre-accreditation process of two national financial institutions in Saint Kitts and Nevis: the Development Bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN) and the Saint Kitts Credit Union (SKCCU). For DBSKN, an institutional gap assessment was conducted and an Action Plan was designed to meet GCF standards. For SKCCU, the work includes strengthening the environmental and social risk management system, developing project preparation frameworks, and training institutional staff to align with GCF accreditation requirements.
Methodology: Gap assessment based on GCF accreditation framework standards, combining document review, stakeholder interviews and comparative analysis with GCF fiduciary, environmental and governance requirements.
Results / Deliverables / Key Achievements:
• Action Plan for DBSKN accreditation.
• ESS Policy and Environmental and Social Management System adapted to SKCCU.
• Institutional tools for project development at SKCCU.
• Improvement in institutional preparedness for GCF accreditation.
